Also known as Angular Solomon's Seal or Scented Solomon's Seal, Polygonatum odoratum is a graceful flowering plant in the Asparagaceae family. Native across a wide range—from Europe and Siberia to China, Korea, and Japan—this species is cherished for its elegant form and adaptability in temperate gardens.

In the United Kingdom, it is one of three native Solomon's Seal species, alongside Polygonatum multiflorum and Polygonatum verticillatum.

Like its relative, lily of the valley, this plant thrives in moist, shaded settings. It spreads gently via underground stolons, forming lush colonies over time—ideal for woodland borders or naturalized shade gardens. Popular ornamental cultivars include ‘Flore Pleno’ (with double flowers) and ‘Variegatum’ (featuring cream-edged leaves).
